How to design a custom scarf that works
A great scarf comes down to three decisions: the technique, the colors and the text.
1. Pick the technique for how it will be used
For a scarf worn in the stands all winter, custom knit scarves are hard to beat: double-layer jacquard, warm and practically indestructible. If your crest is detailed, HD knit keeps the fine lines with a tighter stitch. For a company or school logo that must match brand guidelines, custom woven scarves give the sharpest edges. For a photo, a gradient or a summer event, go with sublimated printed scarves. Want a different message on each side? Look at double-sided scarves. For a premium finish, add an embroidered logo.
2. Choose contrasting colors
A scarf gets seen from across the stadium. Pair a dark color with a light one, like navy and white, red and gold or black and orange, rather than two similar shades. Classic knit allows three colors, and two strong, contrasting ones are often all you need.
3. Keep the text short and bold
Team name, motto, founding year: the text should read at a glance. Aim for about 15 characters on classic knit and up to roughly 25 on HD knit. The designer warns you if your text runs too long.
